Public Transport

For those who can’t drive, fear not! Public transport in Melbourne is an easy way to get around, not to mention it can be cheaper than driving and is great for the environment. Metropolitan Melbourne offers many buses, trains and trams and regional Victoria offers trains, buses and road coaches to get you to where you need to go.

You will need a Myki card to use any of these. A Myki can be bought from over 800 retail outlets including 7/11 stores and Australia Post stores, as well as adding credit online. If you need assistance when travelling, there are accessibility programs in Victoria such as the Access Travel Pass for people with significant permanent disability who travel independently or the Companion Card, providing free public transport for official carers and companions.
